The civic protest against the government enters its 62nd day today. As every evening, citizens will gather at "Skënderbej" Square. They will then march towards the Prime Minister's Office, where speeches are expected from activists and protest participants.
The protesters have reiterated that they will not back down. They consider the fact that they have been protesting continuously for more than two months as proof of their resilience and say that the mobilization will continue until their demands are met. The main demand remains the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. In addition, the protesters are demanding the creation of a caretaker government and constitutional changes that, according to them, will guarantee free and fair elections.
The day before, the protest was also accompanied by opposition to the new territorial division, which envisages the merger of 15 municipalities. Activists described the reform as another decision made without listening to the citizens. At the end of the rally, the protesters held an all-night march through the streets of Tirana, under the slogans "Rama, go away", "Resign", "New Albania" and "Revolution".
