Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke today before the Socialists about Albania's journey to the European Union.
"Albania is not yet a country on an ordinary path that can move forward, stop, change government, and then continue where it left off, as if time did not have the price it does today.
Old democracies are places where this can happen, because they have established a "bull for bull" state. They have centuries-old administrations, and when they walk on the paved road of the rule of law, they change the driver 7 times in 10 years, like Britain for example, but they do not turn the state off the path.
Albania today is at the last crossroads that connects it to the road to the great house of Europe. For the first time, the open door of that house is visible on the calendar. That house is not a light that sometimes disappears from the fog, through the paths of the road, it is right there in front of it, just like the doors of this building, but on the other hand it is universally known that it is not a door that remains open indefinitely.
"Right now, in front of the open door, Albania cannot afford to go around the final crossroads. Let's say it clearly, so that no one misunderstands, this is not the SP's battle to remain in power, but Albania's battle to stay in its rightful place, at the EU table," Rama said.
