The fight in Ksamil that ended with the death of Portuguese tourist Luis Miguel Varela Mendes lasted just six minutes. Security cameras captured the dynamics of the August 18 event, from 05:14 to 05:20.
The footage shows several tourists exiting the "Principotes". A little later, Sokrat Lipan alias Vata and David Heurtevent approach. The debate begins with adjournment and within seconds turns into a fight.
At 05:17, Mendes intervenes and pushes Vata. The latter gets up and, together with Heurtevent, allegedly hits the 20-year-old. Mendes tries to leave and goes into the sea to escape the blows. Moments later, he emerges from the water with his bloodied T-shirt and heads towards the sun loungers.
The cameras then show the departure of the people involved. Heurtevent leaves at around 05:18, while at 05:20 Vata is seen returning towards the “Principota”, with bloodied clothes. Investigations are ongoing to determine the responsibility of each of the people involved in the fight that ended with the death of the 20-year-old.
