The Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of Serbia, Snezhana Paunovic, made a scandalous statement that has caused numerous reactions, during an interview given yesterday to the Serbian media outlet Kurir.
In a lengthy interview, the minister in Vučić's government said that, if she had had the freedom of action that Slobodan Milošević had, she would have "ethnically cleansed Kosovo."
"For our shortcomings and stupidity, if I had been free like Milosevic, I would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo in 1998," the Serbian minister declared during an interview given this weekend.
During the 1998–1999 war, Serbian forces committed massacres, murders, and mass expulsions of the Albanian civilian population in Kosovo.
Over a million Albanians were forcibly expelled from their homes, while thousands of civilians were killed or disappeared.
