Mallakastra police have arrested a 54-year-old man in flagrante delicto, suspected of being the author of a fire that engulfed an area of olive trees in the area called "Qafa e Vidhit".
According to the official announcement, the services of the Mallakastër Police Commissariat immediately intervened at the scene after the fire was reported, supporting the firefighting forces and launching investigations to clarify the circumstances. During the search near the fire site, the officers found citizen A. Xh., 54 years old, resident of Ballsh, who is suspected of having started the fire. As a result of the spread of the flames, about 400 olive trees were burned. At the end of the first investigative actions, the Crime Investigation specialists arrested the 54-year-old for the criminal offense of “Destruction of property by fire”.

The services of the Mallakastër Police Commissariat, after receiving information that a fire had broken out in the area called "Qafa e Vidhit" and dozens of olive trees were burning, immediately went to the scene, in support of the firefighting forces, as well as to carry out investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the case.
Near the fire, the Police services have identified citizen A. Xh., 54 years old, resident of Ballsh, who is suspected of having started the fire. As a result of the spread of the flames, about 400 olive trees were burned. Following the procedural actions, the specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Mallakastër Police Commissariat arrested citizen A. Xh. in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of “Destruction of property by fire”. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, for further actions.
The Fier Local Police Directorate appeals to all citizens not to light fires for burning waste or for other purposes, as the spread of flames can have serious consequences for life, property and the environment. It also invites citizens to report any case of arson or other illegality to 112, guaranteeing complete anonymity, immediate and impartial response.
