A photo has been published of 40-year-old Aleksandër Koçeku, who was the victim of a well-organized assassination attempt on Saturday evening in the Kir area of Dukagjini. Koçeku was executed with a Kalashnikov rifle while driving on the Kir-Prekal axis.
According to sources close to the investigation team, 25 automatic rifle cartridges were seized at the scene, all fired from the same weapon. This fact has strengthened suspicions that the perpetrators had carefully planned the victim's movements and had ambushed him with the aim of eliminating him.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the 40-year-old man was shot in the head, causing his instant death. His body was found by a passerby, who immediately notified the police.
Forensic experts have conducted an examination of the crime scene and are analyzing any evidence seized. Meanwhile, investigators are verifying security camera footage along the route the victim had followed before the attack, as the area where the crime occurred is not covered by security cameras.
Although investigations continue in several directions, the main lead remains the old conflict between the Koçeku and Shkambi families.
The conflict dates back to 2017, when Artan Koçeku, the victim's brother, shot and killed Angjelin Shkambi. For that crime, Artan Koçeku is serving a prison sentence.
Aleksandër Koçek's family members have stated to investigators that he had been living for years under fear of retaliation and was constantly cautious in his movements.
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old will be taken to his final resting place the next day, while the funeral ceremony will take place at the Catholic cemetery of Gruda e Re. The Police and the Prosecution continue their investigations to identify the perpetrators and fully unravel the assassination. ©LAPSI.al
