
A 72-year-old man died after his apartment caught fire on Saturday afternoon in neighborhood no. 15 of Korça. The victim, Urim Hysolli, was inside the apartment at the time of the fire. According to preliminary suspicions, he died from asphyxiation due to smoke.
Local residents said the 72-year-old suffered from alcohol addiction and had returned to his apartment a few weeks ago. According to them, a few days ago he had tried to set fire to the apartment while drunk, but the fire was extinguished in time.
Firefighters and police responded to the scene, evacuated the building's residents and brought the flames under control. The investigation team, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, is working to determine the causes and circumstances of the fire.
