The "Party of European Democrats", a centrist European political force led by former French Prime Minister François Bayrou and which strongly defends European integration and federalist principles, has reacted again to the protests in Albania.
In a post on social media, PDE shared a photo of a young girl standing in front of a police officer with the caption: "I am disappointed in you."
"On the 34th day of protests in Tirana, one sentence echoes louder than any cheer: "I am disappointed in you."
A young woman says this to a police officer, and in that moment Albania sees the growing gap between its citizens and those in power.
Democracy is not afraid of peaceful protest. It listens. When institutions respond to courage with force, they do not restore order - they destroy trust.
"Europe must stand by those who protest peacefully and the young people brave enough to defend democracy," the reaction reads. ©LAPSI.al
