The three main organizations of magistrates in the country have reacted after the expiration of the deadline set by the Constitutional Court for regulating the salaries of judges and prosecutors. The Union of Judges of the Republic of Albania, the National Association of Judges and the Association of Prosecutors have issued a joint statement, emphasizing that the Parliament has not approved the requested legal changes by July 31, 2026.
According to them, the decision no. 15, dated 17.02.2026 of the Constitutional Court has clearly defined the criteria for regulating the salaries of magistrates, as previous legal changes were considered as a violation of their financial status through a hidden salary reduction. It is reported that the Associations of Magistrates declare that the inaction of the Assembly does not create a legal vacuum, as the Constitutional Court itself has defined the mechanism that should be applied in this case.
