65th day of protest/ Citizens return today in front of the Prime Minister's

The civic protest against the government continues today, entering its 65th consecutive day. As every evening, citizens are expected to gather at Skanderbeg Square and then march towards the Prime Minister's Office, where speeches by activists and participants will take place. For more than two months, the protest has been taking place without interruption in Tirana. Organizers insist that the mobilization will continue until their demands are met, with the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama as the main objective.

In the protest the day before, citizens raised concerns about pensions, price increases, the cost of living, corruption, administrative-territorial reform, public investments and the functioning of justice institutions. The rally also criticized the opening of the Serbian consulate in Shkodra, while protesters left the symbolic inscription "Boulevard of Hope" on the asphalt in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

Even today, the march is expected to be accompanied by the chants "Rama, resign", "Albania wants revolution", "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison", "Without youth, there is no Albania" and "The end has come for you".

The organizers have called on citizens from all over Albania and the diaspora to join the protests, emphasizing that the civic action will continue every day until the government leaves office and a caretaker government is established, which, according to them, will pave the way for free and fair elections.

Andi Bushati: What if Lali gets out of prison?

A pact has been drawn up between the prime minister and the imprisoned mayor to return the latter to office. But what would be the consequence for a justice reform, that the high-ranking officials have kicked down the doors of his cells?

A decisive moment for Albania

It is the first time that Albanians feel they can shape the national debate without waiting for political parties to take the lead. Experience teaches us that democracy depends not only on elections, but also on active citizenship among them.
