Police have prevented a massive conflict between several groups of minors in Tirana, a conflict that had started on the social network TikTok and that risked escalating into a fight with the use of cold weapons.
New details have been revealed by the head of Police Station No. 6 to Euronews Albania. According to him, investigations revealed that for several days, two groups of minors, identified as the Selita group and the Kombinat group, were attempting to organize a meeting to "clarify", but the confrontation risked ending in a physical conflict.
As part of the checks carried out by the blue uniforms, several knives were seized. Initially, the police seized five cold weapons, while during the ongoing checks, other similar tools were found.
In this case, 28 minors, aged between 13 and 17, were prosecuted at large.
Investigators have also uncovered the motives for the conflict, which, according to police sources, were of a banal nature. From communications obtained during the investigation, it is suspected that the minors were prepared to use not only knives, but also Molotov cocktails in the fight.
The case has once again raised concerns about the involvement of minors in conflicts and criminal activities. According to statistics from the General Prosecutor's Office, the phenomenon has increased in recent years.
One of the most tragic cases was that of 14-year-old Martin Cani, who lost his life after a similar conflict between minors.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to fully document the circumstances of the conflict, the way the confrontation was organized, and the people involved./ Euronews Albania
