
Former volleyball player and coach Artan Pogoni was on vacation in Vlora when he allegedly suffered a cardiac arrest. He arrived lifeless at the Vlora hospital where he was urgently transported by Radhima.
Artan Pogoni was born on March 20, 1972 in Tirana. He played volleyball with Dinamo. At a very young age, 25 years old, he started his career as a volleyball coach, first with Student and then with Dinamo. He was the coach of the National Women's Team and for years the coach of the Volleyball team of one of the private universities in Tirana where he also taught.
Doctor of Science, University Professor Pogoni, with a broad academic background, was the holder of four university degrees. He built his career in the field of sports sciences, focusing on sports recreation and sports training methodologies.
His research engagement was focused on the field of sports training, volleyball and sports recreation. He has a lasting contribution to the scientific literature, with 12 academic publications and 2 textbooks, which serve as a reference for students and professionals in the field. Through these publications, Dr. Pogoni influenced the enrichment of the theoretical and practical basis of sports sciences in Albania.
A commentator on volleyball events, he was often present in television studios to talk about sports developments. He was also the head of the Sports Department in the Democratic Party and was engaged in this political force.
