The director of the Vlora police, Elidon Çela, has been dismissed after producing a false report about the protest in Zvërnec. Regarding the dragging of an activist by private bodyguards, the local police announced:
"During the rally, the situation escalated and a group of protesters committed violent acts with the aim of breaking the fence around the company's construction site.
In these circumstances, one of the protesters, citizen ES, was forcibly entered the construction site fence and was escorted by employees of the private security company to the area designated for guards. During the escort by employees of the private security company, citizen ES suffered bodily injuries."
But the truth was different. And seeing the strong reaction on social networks, the General Directorate denied its subordinate, dismissing Director Çela. It came out with the following announcement:
"The General Directorate of the State Police publicly apologizes for the erroneous reporting of the Vlora Local Police Directorate, regarding the citizen, who was not in fact forced inside the construction site perimeter, as reported.
"In these circumstances and despite the fact that the statement of the Vlora Local Police Directorate is correct in all other respects, the General Director of the State Police has decided to immediately suspend the Director of the Vlora Local Police Directorate from his duties."
