Many immigrants joined the 76th protest on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard. An immigrant from the US said she was born there, but added that she shares the same pain as Albanians living in Albania. The young woman said she grew up with her parents' experiences in Albania.
"Even though we are far away, we share the same pain as the Albanians here. We feel a responsibility and obligation to be here today to show that we support you. There have been 8 protests in New York. Rallies have also been organized in Boston, Washington and Florida," she said.
A young woman living in Germany, a political scientist by profession, said that her father left the country because of corruption. The young woman also mentioned a moment when her mother had come to Albania for vacation and had a crisis, but the emergency services had not responded.
"My mother is in Albania today for a few days of vacation. But she got sick. There were many crises. The ambulance number was ringing and no one answered. I was in Germany in great distress. From Germany I had to call the ambulance for emergency help to save a life. Mom was alone and the first thing they told me was why you left mom alone," she said.
An immigrant from Germany said with tears in his eyes that even though he has emigrated, he has not forgotten Albania. He also added that Albania should be like the rest of Europe.
"We are exiled but we have not forgotten our Albania. Freedom Albania. Albanians ahead. We want a system for Albanians. Albania should be like the rest of Europe, it has its place there. Here there is corruption, it has everything. The reasons for leaving were that I had no future," said the emigrant.
An Albanian living in Italy said that the diaspora is protesting every week about the situation in Albania. During her speech in the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office, she called on all citizens to stand up until Edi Rama leaves power.
"We have been living in Italy for more than 30 years. We go out every week in Milan, for our beautiful Albania, our most beautiful flag. We must all come together for this beautiful country. We come laughing, we leave crying. Even though we are exiles, Albania is our heart. I have come out against my family, they will watch me on TV, but we will risk it for our Albania. Let's come together until Edi Rama leaves the country. Yesterday he was in Dhërmi and he took away our music because he wanted to relax," she said.
Another compatriot from the Stuttgart diaspora conveyed a strong message of civic awareness and a call to disengage from party militancy. The protester praised the energy and determination of the square, emphasizing that the government is afraid of free citizens.
"I come from the Stuttgart diaspora. There have never been so many free souls in this square. We are people who are neither sold nor bought. That's why all those in power are afraid of us. If we continue with this system for another 20-30 years, which these palacios have served us, Albanians will only remain in the centers of some cities and there will be no Albanians anywhere!" - he said. ©LAPSI.al
