
Romanian media have published footage of the arrest in this country of Aurel Hoxhallari, the 49-year-old internationally wanted man and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Devi Kasmi in 2018.
As can be seen from the footage, Hoxhallari is handcuffed and accompanied by numerous police forces after his arrest. According to Romanian media, his arrest was carried out on August 15, near the Calafat-Vidin toll station.
It is reported that Hoxhallari was detained by officers of the Dolji Border Police Territorial Service, and during the search it is suspected that he presented himself with a false identity.
The 49-year-old was declared an international wanted man by Albanian authorities, as he was facing a life sentence for the murder of Devi Kasmi.
Kasmi was executed by gunfire on January 29, 2018, on “Kongresi i Manastirit” street in Tirana. According to investigations, Hoxhallari is suspected of having organized the murder in collaboration with other people, including a Greek citizen.
Following the arrest in Romania, legal procedures for the extradition of Aurel Hoxhallari to Albania are expected to continue. ©LAPSI.al
