"The Power of the Dog" kryesoi mes filmave të nominuar. Regjisorja e dramës, Jane Campion, bëri histori duke u bërë gruaja e parë që u nominua më shumë se një herë për kategorinë regjisori/ja më i/e mirë.
I nominuari për regjinë, Steven Spielberg gjithashtu vendosi një rekord të ri. Si producent i "West Side Story", i cili fitoi gjithsej shtatë nominime, Spielberg tani ka prodhuar 11 filma të nominuar për filmin më të mirë, një rekord i ri për Oscars.
Denzel Washington zgjati rekordin që ai tashmë mban si aktori më i nominuar me ngjyrë, duke fituar nominimin e tij të dhjetë për Oscar për interpretimin e tij në "Tragjedia e Makbethit". (Një nga nominimet e tij ishte për prodhimin.)
